History
Sultans came to England from Istanbul. All Sultans are decended from a crate imported by Miss Elizabeth Watts of Hampstead in January 1854. They originated in Southeastern Europe, but were bred in Turkey under the name of ‘Sultan’s Fowl,’ (Serai Taook) the breed evidently enjoying the favour of Turkish rulers, possible due to their attractive appearance. They have distinguishing characteristics, in the features of a full crest, muff, and beard, combined with vulture hocks also leg and toe feathering, along with five toes on each foot.
